1883 Trade Card Chromolithograph View Alpine Village. Lithographer unknown, however highly likely the card was produced in Germany. It was distributed by Western Electric, and shows a traditional alpine village, a mountain stream, waterfall, and the castle on the hill of course, and would have been especially popular for collecting.The back is blank. The Card is in very good condition, but has some minor spots on the surface. , and 3 corners have minor creases. However the edges are strong and beautiful. The chromolithograph illustration is beautiful, incredibly realistic. You can feel the warmth of the rising sun and hear the soft wind. The back is slightly yellowed, but otherwise spotless. A rare and original  "1883 Trade Card Chromolithograph View Alpine Village, Western Electric, Chicago." Lithographer and printer are unknown, however it is highly likely that this card was produced in Germany, considering their reputation for unbelievable chromolithography … and the scene in the picture.  The Trade Card measures approx. 5-1/2" X  4" (14 cm x 10.3 cm).
This amazing trade card was given to their customers by Western Electric company.   in the 1880s it was very much the rage to collect colorful trade cards and store them in scrapbook, and even trade them with friends. This exquisite card shows a traditional alpine village, a mountain stream flowing down from the mountains, and becoming a waterfall, and the castle on the hill of course, and would have been especially popular for collecting.  It's amazing how these  chromolithograph trade cards and booklets retain their brilliant colors even 135 years later.
The back is blank … no need for any further advertising.   Everyone in Chicago knew who Western Electric was.
This wonderful and original "©1883 Chromolithograph Trade Card" is in very good condition.  There are some minor spots on the surface.   Three of the corners have minor creases.   However the edges are strong and beautiful.  The chromolithograph illustration is beautiful, incredibly realistic. You can feel the warmth of the rising sun and hear the soft wind. The back is slightly yellowed, but otherwise spotless.  (See the Photos above, to confirm the condition of this card.)
Delightful and unique,  the "1883 Trade Card Chromolithograph View Alpine Village, Western Electric, Chicago" is a  wonderful example Chromolithography of the time, and would be a fantastic addition to any Victorian era collection!!!
