Recent estate find. The inside of the hat is marked E. D. Bullard and Hard Boiled. The side of the hat has advertising for The L. E. Myers Co., Construction of Public Utilities. Though Myers was/is an Indianapolis company, the city is not specifically mentioned on the hat.
The decal has major loss and fading. The hat as a whole is badly discolored. Ugly yellowing, terribly soiled, discrepancies in color. Dingy. There’s a nasty amount of scratching, scuffing and related surface wear throughout. Lots of paint loss. The top ridges are beaten up with deep scratching, pitting, gouges and that sort of roughness. There are other concentrated areas of deep scratching and whatnot. The bottom outside edge is beaten up as well. There’s a glob of yellow paint on top.
The leather portion of the inside liner is pretty much destroyed – it has awful deterioration, brittle. The leather is breaking up and falling to the table. There’s going to be a good deal of leather debris in the package when you open it. Obviously the helmet cannot be worn with this liner – it’s junk and only included because it is apparently original. The rest of the liner has gross staining, soiled and blackened. There’s no chin strap or anything like that included.
I am offering the item as found with all of its faults, so I ask that you please help me out by closely reviewing the provided pics to best judge what you are purchasing.
